Infrawow Projector Mount

2' X 2' Drop-in Projector Mount:
Infrawow has designed and built a projector mount for classrooms having suspended ceilings between 8' and 11' high. This 2' X 2' mount should be mounted eight feet from your whiteboard.  We have included a drop-down Wii mounting rack which allows you to keep a charge on the wiimote at all times using a rechargeable wii battery pack and a USB charger.  This mount is completely adjustable, will sell for less than $100.

Projector: Recommended NEC NP 200

This projector has a clear, sharp image and replacement bulbs are priced substantially less than other projector bulbs in the $150.00 range.  We have done the research and testing on this product and the only fault we've found is that the audio is less than spectacular.  That's not a biggie because we prefer to use separate speakers like the ones often found on home computers. Projectors are a key component for interactive whiteboard systems.  Here's the lowdown.  For years, projectors were expensive which kept businessmen, teachers and school districts from purchasing them.  I'm a teacher and know first hand.  I wanted to expand the educational horizon and use the internet and its largely untapped potential as an educational resource, but projectors were too expensive - no way could our district afford to purchase them in any kind of quantity.  Projector prices have since plummeted, and now, projector prices are hovering around the $600 range.  I now have a "modern era" projector which works great with the interactive whiteboard system and they are superb!  Here's what I've learned:

1.  You don't need an expensive, high-powered projector!  If you're an educator, you'll probably be projecting onto a 4' x 8' whiteboard.  That means that your projected image will be about 4' x 5'.  Low-cost projectors can handle that range - no problem.  The projected image is crisp and bright, but colors are a bit distorted - again, no biggie.
$600 should do it.

2.  The optimum distance from the projector to the whiteboard is about two times the height of your image (8feet)At this distance, the image is sharp, your Wiimote can easily track your infrared pen, and the "keystone" feature on your projector allows the projected image to be nice and square.

3.  Bulbs last a long time.  I'm going on my third year now and my projector is on for eight hours every school day.

4.  Projectors replace Tv's.  I no longer have to "sign up" to use a TV to show educational videos.  youtube is packed with educational videos on every topic - even how to use infrared pens - and using a multi-media approach to teaching is unbeatable.  My kids love the large screen projected image which is home-theater like.  School districts may save money by not having to purchase television sets.
